Abstract
Purpose: In this study, we examined the effect of epinephrine on the heart rate and blood pressure in pediatric tonsillectomy patients under propofol-remifentanil anesthesia.
Methods: In fifty children, aged 5~10years, who underwent elective tonsillectomy under propofol-remifentanil anesthesia. We recorded blood pressure and heart rate continuously after injection of epinephrine for hemostasis.
Results: After epinephrine injection, blood pressure and heart rate remained at the level before injection. There were no significant arrhythmia after epinephrine injection.
Conclusion: We concluded that in pediatric tonsillectomy patients under propofol-remifentanil anesthesia, epinephrine exogenously administered does not alter heat rate and produce arrhythmia.
